Lotte World Tower | Landmark That Will Make You Fall In Love With Seoul

If you were to ask me to recommend one thing to do in Seoul, my answer would be “Lotte World Tower”. You might say that doesn’t make any sense, why choosing a skyscraper over gardens, temples, beaches or mountains. But I’d tell you why Lotte World Tower would be on top of “Things To Do In Korea” list.

My Love For Skyscrapers

I love skyscrapers, so much that no matter which country I visit, I always try to go to the observatory deck of the highest building in that country. I have been to Petronas Tower Kuala Lumpur, Taipei 101 in Taiwan, Empire State Building in USA, Willis Tower in USA, The Costanera Center Chile, Namsan Tower Seoul Korea, Sydney Tower Eye in Australia and Sky Tower Auckland in New Zealand. But I always wanted to go to Lotte Tower in Korea too since its opening in April 2017. Well that dream came true few days ago when I was interviewed by Yonhap News on top of this building.

Lotte World Tower is 5th tallest building in the world. It is also the tallest building in South Korea and 3rd tallest building in Asia. It was opened for public access in April 2017 and within less than a year, it has been attracting tourists from all over the world. Not only that, Lotte World Tower has also the world record of having the tallest glass floor at 120th floor.

Yonhap News Contacted Me For Interview

It all started few days ago when I received a call by Yonhap News that they want to interview me about Korea Honorary Reporters and about my website Korea Diaries. They found me through some blog and wanted to ask about my passion of sharing Korean culture with foreigners and my future plans.

If you want to know more about my blog and how Korea Diaries started, please read this blogpost.

I was so excited for the interview because Yonhap News is one of the biggest news agencies in South Korea. Anyways, I agreed for the interview and they asked me to choose a location for the interview. I recommended few locations and I was so glad when they agreed on Lotte World Tower. So, my dream of seeing the Seoul City bright lights from 550m was about to come true.

The Day I visited Lotte Tower

Well on the day of the interview, I arrived to the location with my Italian friend, Vincenzo who is also a Korea Honorary Reporter. We got our tickets and were taken to the 118th floor’s observatory deck.

The moment I come out of the elevator, I was left with my mouth open as I was standing at almost 500m and the beautiful city of Seoul was in front of me.

While I was walking and seeing the city’s skyline, I suddenly almost screamed as I stepped onto the glass floor 😀 This glass floor has the world record of being the highest glass floor in the world. Although I am very afraid of heights, at that point, I decided to walk onto it too and take pictures. There were lots of kids running on the floor and that made me more confident about myself 😀

Best Part of Lotte World Tower

Soon we went to the 120th Floor where they have open space observatory. You are literally standing in like open air as there is no roof above you. This was the best part since I was feeling fresh air at almost 500m, far away from air pollution and traffic noise. If you are also looking to give your soul few relax moments, do visit 120th floor on Lotte Tower.

Apart from the glass windows, there are also café and a restaurant on 119th floor. So, if you are on a date, don’t forget to buy some snacks to your loved one 🙂

Another thing that I really like was the installation of help screens and pads all over the floor. You can rotate the screens where ever you want and the screen will show you the famous tourist attractions in front of you. Me and my buddy started playing games of fining the famous landmarks in Seoul and it was quite fun.
