Cheongwadae Sarangchae – Why It Should Be On Your Bucketlist
Cheongwadae Sarangchae is really a must visit place if you want to know more about Korean culture, politics, and history of Korean Presidents. #Cheongwadae is the blue house, the residence of the President of SouthKorea while the #Sarangchae used to be the study room in Korean traditional houses Hanok.
What is Cheongwadae Sarangchae?
So Cheongwadae Sarangchae i.e ?????? is dedicated solely for the people, both foreigners and locals to know more about Korea. It is a historical memorial museum located exactly in front of the Blue House. There are two floors, the first one is dedicated to exhibitions and a souvenir shop while the second floor has a history of Presidents and the vision of Korea.
First Floor of Cheongwadae Sarangchae?
The first floor of this building has different exhibitions going on all around the year. You could find exhibitions related to Korean Food, Korean Dress, Korean Music and others.
There is also a souvenir shop located on the first floor where you can find different kind of gifts (magnets, cups, keychains, tshirts etc). There is also a coffee shop and a resting area too.
Second Floor of Cheongwadae Sarangchae?
On the second floor, you can see the history of all the Presidents of the Republic of Korea. There is a section which shows the famous and must visit places in the country too.
The best part of the Cheongwadae Sarangchae is seeing the “Revolution through Candlelight” area. In this section, there is an inspirational video showing the people protesting for Ex-President Park Geun Hye’s impeachment holding the candles. It feels so good to see how peacefully they were protesting for their rights.
There is a wall where people write wishing letters for the people of Korea and I also write a beautiful message.
Feel like being a President 🙂
Another cool thing on the Second floor of Cheongwadae Sarangchae is the photo booth where you can take pictures on the look-like table of Mr. President. One side of the table is the Korean flag while the other side has Cheongwadae’s flag on it.
You can also experience the feeling of walking along the guards by standing in the official car of Mr. President while the guards are marching alongside with you.
This place, Cheongwadae Sarangchae is really a must visit place in Seoul and if you are really interested to know more about Korean culture and modern history, I’d highly recommend you to visit it.
